Frequently asked questions
What is behind the anti-reflective effect of ®claryl picture framing glass?
The glass contains a special ®claryl coating. This coating consists of special glass. The coating allows more light to pass through, which means that there is less reflectance and the colours in a picture remain realistic.
In what way does ®claryl picture framing glass differ from engraved glass?
Before the existence of anti-reflective glass, etched glass was widely used. The disadvantage of this is that the colours of the framed work fade and lines are less sharp. This is unlike today's anti-reflective glass, such as ®claryl picture framing glass, which ensures that the picture is beautifully displayed.
In what way does ®claryl picture framing glass differ from other anti-reflective glass?
The biggest difference is the price. Because ®claryl picture framing glass has a relatively advantageous production process, it is less expensive than other anti-reflective types of glass, whereas its quality and durability are the same. Thanks to the low price, anti-reflective glass is no longer the preserve of expensive works of art, but is within reach of a larger target audience. With the arrival of ®claryl picture framing glass, anti-reflective glass can now be offered for every framing job.
To what extent does ®claryl picture framing glass also protect against UV rays?
The UV protection of ®claryl picture framing glass is equivalent to the protection of ultra-white glass. If you are going to frame an expensive work of art, which is hanging in broad daylight, we recommend that you use a special UV-protective glass instead of ®claryl picture framing glass.

Care and maintenance
Tips for cutting ®claryl picture framing glass
- Always wear gloves to prevent fingers from being squashed or cut.
- Put a photo mount between the glass and the rear of the glass cutter. This will prevent scratches.
- Regularly brush the glass cutter clean with a brush, so that no splinters are left behind.
Tips for cleaning ®claryl picture framing glass
- Put the glass on a clean, non-abrasive surface.
- Use a clean, lint-free cotton or paper cloth, that does not contain any lotion and does not scratch. A microfibre cloth is also possible, if it is washed daily.
- Stains or deposits can best be removed using a mixture of 75% softened water and 25% methylated spirit. Of course, you can also use a glass cleaning compound, but not all cleaners are suitable for this (often labelled as glazing agents). If the product contains silicones, alkaline or fluorine, it increases the reflectance of the glass.
- Clean the glass applying rotary movements to prevent streaking.
- If it is very dirty we advise first cleaning the glass with lukewarm water with a small amount of normal washing up detergent. Rinse the glass afterwards with water and dry it with a clean paper or cotton cloth. Then wait 5 to 10 minutes before starting to frame a picture. Then you will know for sure that the glass has completely dried.
